Phil Askew learns to step outside himself to get back to the intuitive man inside himself.

I scurry down past the hedge sniffing the air as I go. Lower my snout to the very edge of the frozen pond, inhale deeply. Noticing any unfamiliar scent.

I dart in through the ornamental box tree’s and stop dead in my tracks at the slightest sound. Waiting…looking with pin-sharp intensity, wide golden eyes scan the immediate horizon…open awareness to sounds that register as ‘threat’ in my mind…then, on I go with purpose and clarity of mind.

I am inside the mind of a wolf.

I notice through the embodiment and with a curious imagination it takes no time at all to feel this transformation. It is an exciting experiment, one of the many fascinating activities of the weekend workshop I have been on.

Acting as the wolf, becoming his way. Allowing his sense of what is priority guide me.

I notice the wolf doesn’t question himself, he doesn’t run a survey to see what his next action might be. This wolf is on-purpose and he moves in that way.

His actions from point A through to point B consist of efficiency and impulse. He doesn’t doubt his intentions or his natural urge, no questioning or regret. He doesn’t filter or modify to ‘look good’.

This is a freedom. Pure, wild, natural.

How is it that with our intellect and sense of self we continuously over complicate and at the same time consider our species ‘top of the game’?

The hearts and minds of animals are uncluttered, pure in nature. Alive with intent and driven by life-force.

Maybe you feel drawn to a particular one? A fox or bird, cat, maybe a fish? Listen in to that which is calling you, an animal that fascinates and inspires you and, try it on for size.

Really! Play with it!

Move like this animal. Clear your thoughts of everything else other than that which would occupy your host.

How does it feel? How is your life looking from here? Feel different from this perspective? What becomes easy? How does your sense of ‘self’ feel now? Liberated? Simple? DIFFERENT I’m sure.

If you DID join me in this game…what will you take BACK into your own life?

For me as the wolf, far sighted seeing, increased awareness of surroundings and the notion to STOP in order to hear the truth.

MensFundamentals.com is holding an upcoming 3-day men’s workshop, April 12-14. Find out more. Connect with Phil Askew by email at phil@bringthebrave.com
